TV Azteca approach La Academia to Honduras, Ecuador, Guatemala and USA market

The reality show La Academia will be seen in Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, Guatemala and the United States. The program, which celebrates its 20-year commemorative edition, returns to the Azteca Uno. Under the production of Ángel Aponte, the show will take place week after week at Azteca Estudios, where as of June 12, 16 participants will compete for the title of the contest. On this occasion, the driving will be in charge of Yahir, who was a participant in the first generation of the reality show.

La Academia will be broadcast in the United States by the Estrella TV signal. It will also be seen in Azteca Honduras, in Ecuador through Ecuavisa and in Azteca Guatemala. In addition, the broadcast will be screened throughout Latin America and Europe by TV Azteca’s Mundo signal.

The panel of critics will be made up of the singer Ana Bárbara, the host Horacio Villalobos, the musical theater actress Lola Cortés and the producer Arturo López Gavito. Meanwhile, Alexander Acha will make his debut as director of this broadcast, after having been a critic in the 2019-2020 edition. The singer Aleks Syntek joins as a mentor for the students, while Myriam Montemayor, the winner of the first edition of La Academia, will be the godmother of this 20-year edition. ‘Those of us who are there (in the United States) looking for a job, work, love, for the public to listen to our songs, we are proud that this year The Academy is seen there and that some of the participants were born there, but happily children of new generations of Mexicans. I am very proud of this merger with Estrella TV and TV Azteca. I think it will be a complete success’, said Bárbara at a press conference.

‘I loved the idea from the beginning. I doubted a lot and the first time they offered it to me I said a resounding no, but making a consensus at home and with my memory saying: “Lola, you need to heal many things that you experienced that perhaps you didn’t like”. Today more than ever I can say that I am very happy to return’, shared Cortés.
